That’s why a visit to the Gothic St. Stevenskerk, including its crypt, as well as a stroll down the shopping street “Lange Hezelstraat,” should be on your sightseeing itinerary. Afterward, there’s no better way to take a break than with some freshly fried kibbelingen in Kronenburgerpark during the winter months.

Maastricht is a university town in the far south of the Netherlands. The city is known for its medieval architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Gorinchem is a true bastion town. On a walk through the city, you’ll discover the many ramparts that have been preserved to this day and can be viewed perfectly from the walking path. Although many historic structures have been preserved, only one of the four city gates originally built remains—the Dalempoort. In addition to the remaining fortifications, Gorinchem offers many other attractions—such as the La Caponnière wine and tasting room, the Tolhuis (meaning “customs house”), and the De Hoop windmill—that make a visit to Gorinchem well worth your while.
